Just making a list of thins to do to the Falco (if the Australian Customs wallahs ever get round to looking and releasing it) and I remembered about the fuel cap drain hose problem I had.
When on our outing to monsoon beset Durham we stopped to gas up and when I opened the gas cap a load of water poured into the tank. This didn’t cause any problems, but I wasn’t happy and thought repeated occurrences would eventually result in the water at the bottom of the tank getting high enough to be sucked into the motor.
When I got a chance I drained the tank and took it off. There are two black drain pipes on the fuel pump plate on the bottom of the tank joined to ally nipples. If you look into the tank you should be able to see the two pipes they join to. One is linked to the raised opening which I reckon is a breather and the other is joined to the flush opening, which must be the drain.
Anyhoo the ally nipple at the bottom of the drain was all furred up and not allowing anything to drain out, so removed it and cleaned it up, made sure the rest of the pipe work was clear and refitted it all.
While preparing the bike to ship to Oz it had to be pretty clean so it got a good (careful) wash with a pressure hose. When I opened the tank the water wasn't draining away again.
Any one had this happen and know an effective cure?
blocked fuel cap drain hole

Well one problem is that the drain hole isn't at the lowest point so there's always some water that escapes it's attentions. Also the fuel cap well seems to collect quite a bit of crap which must end up going down this drain with the water. As the alloy nipple thingie is very narrow bore and prone to furring I imagine it has just blocked again and the p.i.t.a answer is regular clearing.
Next time I do mine I will try a squirt of corrosion inhibitor to see if that helps with the furring up.
