Guess the Falco's staying home...

#1 Post by johny_q » Fri Feb 01, 2008 12:43 am

Hey there,
Some of you might remember a post I made a few months ago, about bringing my Falco over from Portugal, therefore embarking on a great bike trip sometime around Easter. After thinking it over and over again, dificulties about having the bike abroad for a long time, insurance wise, made me decide against it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have her here, as I found out there are some beautiful roads here in the welsh countryside...
Still, being a student living here for three years could make it hard to keep an italian superbike (because that´s what it is) registered and insured on another country, where there's even no MOTs.

Having decided that, I searched for a local replacement for these years that I'll live here. Something not expensive, that would be fun to ride, cheap to run and insure (insurance here is sky rocket high!) with the porpuse of some good leisure rides, small trips to explore the country and the odd trackday...oh and if it could be a v-twin, better still. Yes, I betrayed the community and went jap, bought an SV650S K3. Great little bike! Incredibly light and agile! Well, coming from the Falco it sure feels that way...way easier to ride of course and, if compared directly, slightly underpowered. Nevertheless a serious fun bike, it should be a great companion for the time I'll be spending here, and in the summer I still get to ride the Falco in sunny Portugal!

So, I'm sorry but there won't be a "big bike trip through europe" post in the touring section from me. At least for now. I'd still like to do that, maybe later on...who knows...

Just though I'd say that, since I had said I'd bring the Falco over in the other post...and after all I won't...

Cheers, and keep those Falcos shining!

Hi Johny,

Ah well, the Falco's still there in Portugal for when you go home and although the SVs not quite the same, it's not a bad bike for having a bit of fun with while you're here.

You're still very welcome to stick around the forum and join in with anything we organise ..... which reminds me that we must organise a few more get togethers than we had last year.

Cheers

There was a rather good one in Norfolk last year, shame there weren't any Falco's there.

Enjoy the SV Johnny, but then you'd enjoy any bike with those welsh roads about :smt003

Hi Johnny - at least you've got some wheels and the falco is wrapped waiting at home. Keep in touch though and as DRider says - we should get together this year so maybe meet you then.
