Kwik Fit

#1 Post by paddyz1 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 11:55 am

I took a tyre from the new bike carrier to kwik fit today. I was looking for the correct tyre for my model of pick up truck.
So I goes in and asks
"Can you tell me the reccomended tyre size for a Ford Seirra based P100 pick up"

"Sorry I need the tyre size"

"Do you not have a database which give you the reccomended tyre sizes for a vehicle"

"No, all cars have different tyre sizes, I need the tyre size"

"The pick-up has oddball tyre sizes and I dont know the correct size"

"I cant help you with out the tyre size"

"Thats why I am here?????????"

Pause

So I say to the monkey

"I have a choice of 3 tyre sizes. How do you know I am giving you the correct size for the pick up"

This must have confused the monkey as all cars/vans/pick-ups etc have at least 4 tyres)

Blank expression

"err"

"I will go to somewhere else that knows the answer then"

So off I go (somewhat pissed off as it is a tyre dealer...supposedly.......)

National tyres just asked me for the reg number and within seconds I had the info I needed and they got to sell four tyres.

I think i will email a complaint over to Kwik fit and tell them to invest in a database instead of dance lessons :smt002

Rant over............ :smt001

I think probably 'Krapfit' as Just before I was going on a long haul trip round Europe, went into Kwikfit for a simple oil change, it was terrible weather and it was only when we got onto the Ferry I noticed that the whole back of the car was covered in oil!
Dohh! :smt089 they couldn't even fit an oil filter properly!..Only just got away with it. Of course the oil light came on as soon as I started the car up in France!

I hate Kwikfit.

Still use em for some stuff where I rather a muppet get their hands dirty.. like taking off an old exhaust and fitting the new..

I usually check the job over myself, while theyre on the ramp, just saves me getting my lovely hands all mucky. I gave up fitting for a reason.. :smt005

Tyres? No chance. I'd rather walk over broken glass with no shoes on than pay THEM for tyres I can get fitted more professionally elsewhere and at the same price!

My firm uses Lex Vehicle leasing for our cars and we have to go to Kwikfit for tyres and exhausts. Last time I went in they told me I needed 4 tyres - all on the limit, so fine. So they ordered four tyres, I went in the next day, cars goes on the ramp and I go off to kill some time. Come back and hour later and the car only has two new tyres on, the boy then says..

" Oh yes, do you know that your front wheels are smaller than your rear wheels" :smt017

I said yes, didn't you.

he's says " No I looked at the back wheels and just ordered four of them"

:smt005 :smt005 A Merc C class, it's got fancy alloys that are wider at the back.

A penny farthing would probably handle better in the crap weather, this thing is all over the place.
