Signatures on the bottom of postings?

#1 Post by Viking » Tue Jan 15, 2008 2:47 am

Hey all,

I have a signature enabled in my profile, but it's not coming up in any of my messages. I've checked the length of it, and it's nowhere near the character limit.

Is anyone else seeing the same problem?

(And yes, I do have the little 'Attach signature' box selected when I write my posts.)

Sigs are disabled on the site. (probably cos Gio's pornographic one took up too much bandwidth. :smt002 )
I guess it's something Admin might review.

I personally like sig pics. Theyre Ace and allow people to develop their online personas further.

Some were a bit OTT so sigs were turned off by majority vote

HOWEVER!

We may reinstate sig fridays.

That way the artistic can exercise their right to look.. errm.. artistic.. at least once a week

Ive been saying that to myself ever since I turned 'em off. By the time I realise it's Friday, it is in fact, Saturday :smt012

Maybe a good idea Kwackerz - but best set some guidelines on size to prevent the problem ligloo mentions.

Maybe weekends would be a good time - covert forum communication whilst at work can be maintained without the fear of Gio's previous sig (or similar) popping up at the wrong moment!

Sigs on Fridays encourage the great Institution that is POETS Day.

Websurfing at work? ON A FRIDAY !!?? Shouldnt be allowed!

Fridays at work are for getting the proverbial outta Dodge.. :smt002

Open to comments though.. :smt002

Thanks all.

I must have missed the memo that said signatures were verboten.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Still not really sure what all the fuss regarding sigs is about tbh. :smt017
The one I did fer Gio was hardly pornographic or as offensive as some photos of ladies draped over bikes and the swearing that is also allowed around here.
The image I used was taken from the cover of a widely available, lower shelf magazine and not some 'lads' mag.
As fer sizes; The Admin/Owners of the site could easily limit sigs to be whatever size they want so as not to bugger-up people with smaller monitors viewing the pages normally.
As for content; Same again! Admin lay down the rules and the rest of us follow em!
Unless Admin do the 'switching-on/off' sigs thing then the weekend idea prolly wont work; People will forget! :smt002
Im still unsure as to wether it was a 'size' issue or simply a 'content' issue that got got sigs banned? :smt009
Two is the magic number... ;)

As far as I am concerned it is not the content of sigs that is the issue - but the clutter.

There are some forums where you can hardly make out what is being said above all the sig pics, ads, quotes, favourite itunes playlists etc.

OK, not a major problem but not really necessary either.
