Feel free to plug the Site in your profile TBW.
Hopefully TC will be along. He's usually full of sensible ideas and knowing the trade will probably have a few outlets for ads.
Failing that I guess MCN would be as good a start as any. Everyone (apart from me) seems to visit the MCN pages.
I'd be tempted to go for:
MCN, the paper
MCN, the website
and Visordown, the website

I'd have a word at your local test centre.
or check out the bike training industry rags. Not sure if there will be some good links on here or not

they may be able to point you in the right direction if you contact them.

Finding good quality instructors is always difficult as I can testify to, but there are a number of options.
Firstly, what is the current situation regarding the current set of instructors already on the books? What is their quality? Are they prepared to transfer over with the new ownership?
If that is a no brainer, then recruiting through local dealerships is always a good start. Drop in to a few and let them know what you are planning, how you hope you can work together in the future and see if they have any customers they can recommend who may be interested.
Local newspapers is another good source as is your local test centre(s) and even putting some information on local forums works.
Do you have any riding buddies who may be interested?
If you are doing just CBT and DAS work it can often be difficult to make ends meet and this may reflect in the rate of pay you are offereing given the fact that depending on the current reputaion you may have to spend some time and money re-establishing the school. To this end it can sometimes pay to do the work yourself (instructing that is) and as word gets around you will get approached about vacancies which can to a certain degree allow you to cherry pick.
I wish you well, I certainly would not want to start all over again.

thanks guys
thanks for the replys re Instructors, the reason I am considering buying the business is I have ME and there are times when I find it difficult to work and the thought of claimimg benifits to live on is scary as i have always paid own way and that a business would be something to pass onto family when i could not longer get about. My illness sort of dictates my life, hence i find riding difficult so Instructing is sort of out of the question for me. Some good news though i did have an enquiry about the job and am going to talk to the guy over the week-end and take it from there.
will keep you posted
