LED Indicator resistors
am I correct in thinking to make 4 led indicators work I need 20 ohm or 9 watt resistor s on each one?
just fettling and working on something....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

LED Indicators
Hi all,
Yeap, bought ickle gold one's from my local bike shop, just splice wires and fasten them in-line somewhere out of the way. They r alot brighter and cool on the bike
Later,
Ur friendly lens guy.

all in good time
I have the front ones in and working - SO LONG AS i have normal bulbs on the back....
confused - I am LOL
the font ones I have used were designed for a fireblade btw.... ickle blisters that sit in the fairing indicater bracket mounts....
(And before anyone says anything, it is not an attempt at stream lining - my rather portly frame would make that a null point....)

Re: LED Indicator resistors
There is a very sexy fix for LED indicators all round that I picked up on the AF1 site. Involves fitting a couple of diodes behind the dash to stop break the link between the left and right indicator pairs through the single dash tell tale. Needs a LED flasher unit too.Aladinsaneuk wrote:am I correct in thinking to make 4 led indicators work I need 20 ohm or 9 watt resistor s on each one?

Just fitted the flasher relay from e-bay and mine still don't work. Nothing at the front and the rear ones operate like hazards
So I guess I need to fit the resistors in each line then. Electrics is not my strong point so I suppose this is the easiest fix.
Damn !

Resistors..
Hi all,
You can try fleebay for the 12V resistors, or try your local bike shop, that's where I got mine, usually gold in colour. Just spice into your two indicator wires and fit them in. Easy peasy lemon squeezy
Then have as many led's as you like

Just not an elegant solution fudging the LEDs to simulate the current draw of bulbs in order to make the relay work properly. Don't like relays that set time intervals by how long it takes for a bi-metallic strip to heat up, bend and make a contact - an electronic timer circuit is much nicer. Also you're not throwing away electrical power as heat in the resistors. Yeah - overall it's not a big deal but just goes against the grain.sabestian wrote:Why does almost everyone try to avoid resistors in the circuit? Are they bad or what? I've got them and works just fine...

Right then - got them all working properly last night but had to splice in two of the original indicators. I don't like the metal box jobs so I want to make up some resistors (soldered wires and heat shrunk casing) with bullet connectors on so it's easy to swop them and it looks neater.
So all I need to know which bloody resistors do I buy from Maplins (40p each but there's millions of the little buggers). I know there are some magic electrical calculations that you techie engineering types keep to yourselves
