Hi all,

OK, has anyone tried fitting the newer rsv mirrors with indicators to their bike? Just a thought, quite like the idea. Any advice would be much appreciated....

It's been on my list but:

1: Not found a set on ebay in my price range

2: They are not adjustable in the same way as ours and provide an even better view of your elbows - someone on the AF1 site made some adapters but I think he still felt they didn't sort it out completely. The adapters were not a simple shape - I did PM him to ask whether he could get another set from his mould so I could buy them from him but never received a response.

3: I'm now thinking Gixer mirror indicators might do a better job

Hi D-Rider,

I shall look on flea bay for gixer indicators as well! Might need some tickerly ferkerley with the mounts, but, nothing a welding machine and a powder coating can't sort out :smt002

Keep u informed...

There was someone selling pattern Gixer indicator/mirrors on ebay at a far more sensible price (I'd have to search to find them though)

am pretty certain that they are not even a close miss in the fitting department....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

They would require some effort - but so would the RSVR ones to do them properly.

I had the same idea.
I got an RSV indicator to try and do it, but as D-Rider said they need an adaptor to work. their hole pattern is different to ours.
I've not had time to look at it so if anyone wants the indicator to play with they can have it. It has some road rash and no lens but is fine for playing with.

Not the cheapest option, I know, but it would look great, extend the mirrors out by 4 inches, and the fairing geometry & fixing points are very similar. - They're stood side by side in me garage & I just checked :smt002

Use the mirrors/indicators off a BMW K1200S

I had the intention of fitting the RSV mirrors too. I roughly sketched the dimensions for a spacer which I was going to carve out of moulding foam and then make from epoxy resin. The spacer would accept the RSV's 2 mounting points on the one side and replicate the Falco's 1 mounting point on the other... so still allow for swivel adjustment too.

As with most things of this nature... the moulding foam and epoxy resin is still on the shelf in the garage untouched.

Hi all,

Just seen a pair of carbon covered gixer mirrors with led lights in for £35 a pair, might be tempted after my dinner....

Go do lunch now and get my ppl to discuss with their ppl! (Joking)...

They can be adjusted on the spacing apparently from 30-60mm with the two threaded bar spacing might be a plan that comes to a speedy conclusion I think :smt003

You butcher your bike and make it work then do the final proper working design on mine to show off to people! :smt002 Sounds good to me anyway.

Seriously though, if you search on the AF1 site, there's some bits and pieces where people have come up with some ideas. I'm yet to find a final version tho.

Greg, I know you're looking at the Gixer mirrors now but just for interest, here's how someone on the AF1 site fitted the RSVR mirrors - His Falco's worth a look in any case!
Details of the mirror mounts are near the end of the thread.

Hi,

Yes, a great looking bike and mod's, might now wander back onto the aprilia dark side of life :smt002 Depends on how my mail is replied :smt003 Chap in the USA, didn't want to help :smt012

So, have bought the barbon covered gixer one's, they give another 40mm outward projection of the mirrors, which, to be honest is better for the taller gentlemen amoung us who have to pull in our elbows like stuffed chickens to see if the plod is following us before the launch control system is activated :smt003

The rsv way was quite alot of tinkering I thought....

Later,

Ur friendly lens guy.
