(I have even told the wife I'm getting it - her Christmas prezzie to me )

Alarm/immobiliser in the new year though, so I'll have to rough it on the Fazer Thou/TDM/K1200S until then

Yes - absolutely - If you get a reset of the clocks it'll reset to 6k - it can be set from that point upwards.sidestand wrote:That red rev limit line goes on a bit early, but thet can be adjusted can't it ?
My sons Falco is set at 11k and I'm sure I read somewhere that others have it up at 12kD-Rider wrote:Yes - absolutely - If you get a reset of the clocks it'll reset to 6k - it can be set from that point upwards.sidestand wrote:That red rev limit line goes on a bit early, but thet can be adjusted can't it ?
The manual states for a run-in engine, the max revs should be 10.5k - many of us set our warnings just a bit below - say 10k or 10.25k (ish)
I presume this means disconnect the battery and reprogramme?D-Rider wrote:I've checked the book. It is possible to set the warning light at a value between 2000 and 12000 rpm however the maximum recommended rev limits are:
0-625 miles: 6000 rpm
625- 937 miles: 7500 rpm
over 937 miles: 10500 rpm
See p49 of the user manual
I see little point in revving any higher - you'll get more grunt from the next gear in the box.
I'd knock your son's warning light down a bit - no sense in over revving the thing.
Who in all the world is looking at their clocks when hitting the rev limiter ???HowardQ wrote:Must agree with Andy, it's only the warning light you adjust anyway, the limiter comes in around 11K (??) I believe, so not much point having the warning light set at 12K. Mines also at 10,500, it just gives you a bit of warning before you hit the limiter very soon after.
Seems a good idea .... but doesn't it drive you mad flashing away getting up there ?wonderdog wrote:I leave my red light at 6k,this equates to 100mph in 6th,so I then have a quiet marker letting me know when I am in real 'lose yer licence" territory.
