Caliper painting

#1 Post by bigun » Fri Dec 14, 2007 6:31 pm

I want to refurb my calipers. They're spot on mechanically (prob gonna get some new pins tho) but the gold body is looking a bit manky. I took them off and cleaned them in the sink last winter which was better but could do with a respray really.

Anyone done this and can anyone recommend spray to do it with? I'm tempted to do the Brembo lettering in red to match in with my wheels too.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers :smt001

Hi M8 hows life?

IMHO (for what it's worth these days) I'd be tempted to strip the calipers and get them powder coated, great finish and the thickness smooths out the finish far better than paint, hence making it easier to keep clean and well as more chip resistant. However having said that...........

Any decent paint shop should /would do a good job I reckon. I always think it's better to get some professional to do the job because every time I've tried painting anything properley it looks an arse!.

I'm having the wheels on the Tuono painted again purely because the finish my man gets is soooooooooooooo good, and the paint is sooooo thick it's almost powder coat thickness but without having to go through the bearing removal / replacement pain in the ar*e!

I'm with you on the red lettering though, it'll look great, I also fancied using a set of the later Ducati 748 calipers on my Falco, they came in Silver with the red lettering and fit straight on to the Falco... worth considering maybe??? I missed a set on fleabay once and they went for £95, I was gutted...........
