R&G Crash Bungs

When I bought my bike a couple of months ago it came with these attached (lower type). Now usually I am a big fan but they seem to really get in the way of my legs, especially for extremely low speed riding, eg traffic in towns and I keep feeling like I'm about to overbalance all the time.

I was kind of hoping I would get used to it and not worry because I would rather have them attached than not, just in case, like. However it it really starting to get on my tits now. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Unfortunately removing them is not really an option at the mo as I didn't get the original bolt when I bought the bike, anyone happen to have one knocking about which is surplus to requirements?

Yep I did and do, I keep getting my boots tangled in them after propping the bike up at traffic lights etc.

I don't think its the best place for them either as its about half distance (lengthwise) from the front to the back and the fronts about 70% of the weight so (again IMO) its one of the reasons that if you do bin the bike (been there, done it, got the t-shirt) it causes the front dashboard frame to get bent badly.

I'm going to have a look at other places to fit them that won't (hopefully) cause this problem.

Im sure a phonecall direct to R and G would bring forth the possibility of them having an old engine bolt kicking about the workshop.

I took a test-ride on a Falco with them fitted (before I bought my current ride), and they were really awkward. Fitted them on my own Falco, took a bit of getting used to, but I've gotten round it now. Feel a bit like John Wayne when pulling up at the lights, trying to put my legs out so far to avoid them.

Keep thinking about the upper bungs, but really don't want to drill the fairing.

I'm sure I've got the old bolts kicking round in the garage, if I can dig them out they're yours for postage.

I could do a swap if your desperate to get rid (I might even chuck in a few pennies)

Yeah, I know what you mean about the John Wayne thing but the problem I'm getting is that my legs don't seem to be long enough to do that.

The other problem is that as I am still getting over a broken right leg, I have limited movement in my ankle so using the rear brake is tricky with the bungs in the way - I am having to use my whole foot on it motocross style. Probably shouldn't be riding really but I'm not allowed to race so I've got to get my riding fix from somewhere.

Like i said, I really don't want to get rid of them. I might end up just taking them off and keeping them for trackdays. If you can find the bolts that would be awesome, just send us a PM.

Cheers anyway Pierre, but I would like to try the bike without them and see how much difference it really makes.

I've only got the upper set fitted for the same reasons. The good news is, they are pretty effective when/if you throw the bike at the ground

Hmm, yes just been looking at them but cannot bring myself to cut my beautiful fairing panels
