I have a training program that when it boots up displays over half the screen leaving the rest showing screensaver and icons. This doesnt project very well. So how do I temporarily ensure a completely blank desktop?
XP home by the way

Choose a blank style wallpaper for starters. Just a blank page of the right colour saved as a gif'll do.. set that as your wallpaper
To hide your icons
Right click your desktop > Arrange Icons By > uncheck Show Desktop Icons. (check to restore)
Taskbar down the bottom can be set to either hide automatically or you can drag it down out of sight or up to top of screen so it's behind the programme that's open.
