Just what is the end result going to be for me?

#1 Post by gempip » Fri Nov 09, 2007 10:22 pm

:smt017 I am getting a little concerned about my future. In my lifetime I have always ben able to look after myself when being confronted by some mindless foul mouthed yob. But now having reached the age of retirement I find that its no longer the odd 25+ year old, that looks for bother but now you are confronted by some foul mouthed moron of about 13+ with his mates, Round here they roam at all hours of the night like a pack of dogs, vandalising cars and property, (My car window was smashed again for the 4th time probably thought the aerosols on the back seat (leather cleaner) was glue spray) the Police are hamstrung with dictates, but if I caught them, could I give them a good hiding, Oh No, the Do Gooders would soon be on the Band Waggon, "Older Man assaults young boy who accidentaly dropped a brick through his car window" Get the picture! So what does the future hold for me in this country as I get older, Well the way things are progressing day by day and the weak gutless governments that rule us, Sorry I forgot, Europe rules Us, I shudder to think. Maybe we will all end up like Grandpa Simpson in a Retirement Home behind barbed wire and a minefield :smt002 :smt002

There is one answer, you could go and live in Europe, well Spain anyway, where they -
Don't seem to be many, if any yobs.
Do have police who like to be seen and look tough.
Love everything about bikes.
Have a much lower cost of living.
Have a much nicer climate for old aching bones.

No need to go so far - the problem you describe varies from area to area. So move house to somewhere better. Its the only answer.

Under no circ should you tackle the little sods. They hunt in packs and you can be overcome by numbers. The sudden exertion can give you a heart attack. Some of them will be bigger and stronger than you. Their parents (the ones who have really fu**d up) will likely take their sides against you. The law will get involved and since these feral kids know the rules of the game, they will tell all sorts of stories and you could get accused of sexually molesting them not just thumping them.

Apart from anything else, some foreign countries have the same problem in the estates - France for example. Spain is much better, partly because it is 20 years behind us in everything anyway, and partly because the Spaniards have proper married families with a much lower divorce rate and they bring up kids nicely. You dont, for example, hear Spanish mothers screaming at their kids in the supermarket.

AK47. When you absolutely, positively have to kill every motherf*cker in the room, accept no substitutes.

In do find myself wondering what old age in UK will be like when I get there. It's quite worrying.

I know exactly what you mean Gempip.

I live in a pretty good area but on Halloween night some of the little monsters chased my cat and threw a pumpkin at her and there was nothing I could do about it cos I can'r run any more (I'd have hit them if I'd caught them!) and it makes me feel so powerless.

And when we went to Bournemouth one evening to see a show we went early so as to be able to park near the theatre as there was no way I was going to walk along the road to and from the car park, there are a couple of clubs there and where there are clubs there are always the troublemakers that have been chucked out...

In some ways my world is getting smaller - but on the other hand, I still go all over the place to bike rallies cos there I can enjoy getting boozed up and listening to live music with a load of drunken bikers but I KNOW I'm safe and that if I need help I'll get it either from friends or from folks I've never met before! And TBH my rallying is what keeps me going! - not looking forward to winter as the old bones really can't cope with winter camping but I'm flying up to Edinburgh next weekend to meet up with a lot of bikers from another forum!

The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

Kinda mad really. You can hang out alongside stereotypical bikers and be perfectly safe, but walk to the shops and you're in constant danger of attack by sprogs..

Thats exactly what I am doing for exactlly the same reasons. I immigrated to England 3,5 years ago and while this country has been very good to me, I am scared to death of what it is becoming. The moral decay is astonishing, and that decay is riding on the wave that is the next generation. The youth are angry, arrogant and growing up far too quickly.

The only kid on my street that shows any respect to anyone else is a young Spaniard. He comes to chat to me when he sees me with the bike, shakes my hand and has manners... as I would expect from a young man. The other kids are messy, rude and obnoxios vandals.... they wont even move their chav bicycles out of the middle of the road when a car is trying to get by. About 30% of my work is based in Barcelona so I travel and spend alot of time there... and even in some of the relatively unpleasant areas I have been in, I have never felt threatened by groups of youths as I do in England. Hell even when I lived in South Africa, crime capital of the world (well - almost), I never felt threatened when going out (obvisously its a different situation in the townships - if you know about the history of SA).

I have started to make plans to move to Spain permanently, and this xmas will be the last I spend in England.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, I have nothing against England or the English.

You want one of those taser guns.

They're easy to buy in eastern europe and if you ride/drive you'll not get searched.

I might bring a few back next time I'm in Croatia.

Thing is they only work on singular victims, gio, not crowds? I suppose a Tazer a large bucket of water and a stack of premeditation might work though :smt005

:smt002 Put me down for one Gio, but seriously Syltiz makes a good point, I spent some time in Greece and the family life there was fantastic, the older generation was revered, there was such a thing as a family aka Grandparents, Mum, Dad and their children, sure the boys were very macho but they knew when to toe the line when Poppa spoke, You often saw the familys all dressed up on a night walking all together along the prom. or wherever, everywhere there seemed to be a strong bond and respect. Sure they have their troublemakers but the disipline is there and believe me it dished out. I only hope after all these years it is still the same and they havnt gone down hill like us. :smt002

I know exactly what you mean Samray, first time there I was happily snapping away with the camera, I believe on Corfu if my memory serves me right, when in the viewfinder I suddenly saw a very large hairy Greek soldier/airman complete with sub-machine gun bearing down on me cos I was near some military station (which I didnt realise) I think at the time tensions were pretty high between Greece and Turkey and possibly Albania, I remember they had Tanks dug in down the East Coast beaches facing them, funny thing was you could climb all over them as they were padlocked up. :smt017

It's probably been said before but we really aren't making as much progress as we like to think we are. There is a lot to be said for the local bobby [no not you BG] giving a youngster a clip around the ear for dropping his chip wrapper on the ground. Once we get rid of all this PC crap things would improve. IMHO
