I'm thinking that the price decreases in direct relation to the desirability.

Trackday with heated grips anyone ?

But seriously, go for it Paddy - you are a far braver man than I.
Whilst winter weather is a total lottery there are very few days where I feel like really caning it.
Erm.. make that NONE. :smt009

Well if it's up to you to print your own tickets who knows where you'd end up?

Is that Cartagena in Spain or Columbia?

Not at all jealous you understand - I'm just a complete pedant/spoilsport/knob !!

One of the girls from the CoventryBikers forum has just done a trackday at Cadwell complete with bar-muffs.

Rumour has it that a number of people were somewhat distracted by a flash of muff as she came past them .......

With the way the weather is latley I may get lucky and have a dry day. Oulton is right on my doorstep. I have always wanted to do a track day there but only ever got to watch the racing.

I dont mind the cold 'cos I can wrap up, Just hope it aint raining.

Time to bring the bandit out of storage (two years). I remember it well, good for an indicated 125mph and run rings round bigger bikes on the corners.

I might be up for that: I have never been to Oulton, despite being on the doorstep - its very tempting at that price. I'm inclined to leave it until closer to the time (that week, I guess) and see what the weather is like, it could be shocking at that time of year. I can't imagine that it will get full.

Have you booked up yet Paddy? Do they refund if the weather is too bad to use the track i.e. snow and stuff?

Weather is good and bike is sorted. I thought I had draind the fuel and carbs but apparently not..All 4 carbs blocked...3 tins of carb and choke cleaner later along with jets from a spare set got it all sorted. I dont know how it will run as it has no tax/mot/insurance so i could not test it out (not officialy :smt002 )but what it got seemed promising. If I do well I will post up pics but if I do crap I will post up crap pics :smt001

let the fun begin

That was fun.
Did not get started till mid morning for some delay, don't know what it was.
Group 1 (beginners) had a full show. There was half as many in the intermediates and even less in the advanced.
I took the inters group and had a blast. I was one of the slowest on the straights but catching up in the corners. Some of the guys I outbraked and some of them just held me up (in the corners) I wrung the neck out of that little bandit (Bandit400 variable valve) After a while you get frustrated and do what you are told not to do which is overtake on the corners. This however did not last long as the more powerful bikes (the ones that did note go round corners fast) soon blasted past me just out of the bend. On a few occasions I was overtaking on the outside and just geting half a bike on them before they got the power on and took off ( I wish i could see their faces as this 400 took the 600/750/1000cc machines on in the corners.

All in all it was a result and I only new of 3 offs and 1 blown engine.

I must say that little bandit prooved once again that it is a capable machine. If it was in a more balanced track day (all 400s) there would be lots more fun.

All this fun with no avaliable ajustments (except preload) on the suspension. I may have to spend some money on it and make it better still.

Cant see it being sold anytime soon

Sounds like you had good fun - it was perfect weather for it too (well, as good as it gets a this time of year). I ended up doing family visits instead. Poo! Maybe next time......
