Had the 675 in mcn this week

#1 Post by paddyz1 » Wed Nov 07, 2007 10:48 pm

I advertise the 675 in MCN this week.
Not one bloody caller wishing to buy it

Had about 10 calls though from knobheads who want me to pay them to put it on their database.

"Hi I am from blah blah company. Do you still have your motorbike for sale"

'Yes'

"would you like it put on our database as there are some partys looking for a motorbike just like yours in your area"

'how much'

"well it costs £35 for two weeks"

'how do I pay'

"you just need to give us some details"

'which are'

"name, address, phone number and bank details"

'So let me get this straight. You phone me wanting me to give you my bank details yet I haven't got a clue who you are."

A small pause........

"We are an established company of 27 years........"

I interupt here

"Look, I have no interest in how long you have been in buisness and there is no f_cking way anyone, including YOU, will ever get my bank details. The only way I give my details out is if I phone the company that I wish to deal with. Now dont ring me again"

At that point I slammed the phone down before I got really pissed off

At least with auto/bike trader you have the option of an atomated number change facility.

It's a crap time of year to sell a bike. Only people in the market are bargain hunters. I believe the thinking is that a bike bought now will just lose 6 months value sitting in the buyers shed rather than the sellers :smt009

It is noticeable how much fewer ( many less??) lessmanyfewerless ads there are in MCN at this time of year and how it all goes mad in the spring.

Notwithstanding this Paddy have you tried the free web based advertising?

Such as Gumtree or AdTrader or UBG or Bike Exchange. I believe I sold my Bandit through Bike Exchange in late winter.

Whatever - good luck.

Of course trade- in is the easy way to go... It would go a long way towards a Shiver :smt003

Why would anyone want to sell a bike this time of year (alright I know I sold mine, but its in the family and he won't lose anything).

I'd not buy a bike now for the simple reason I don't want to try and discover how "great"/"crap" the handling is during the winter. We need half decent weather to get comfortable on the latest buy.
