USB rechargeable AA batteries

Quite nifty! The amount of times Ive needed AA's but not had any to hand.

Oh undoubtedly slower than an A/C socket. But smaller, lighter and a wholly more viable option for things like when Im away with work. 99% of the time i'm there working with my Laptop, so I can charge the batteries for whatever I need during the course of the day (or two) so when there's a shortage of sockets, it's no drama. Four cost 20 quid on Ebay (firebox has them at 12 quid for 2 plus postage) so theyre on par with the cumbersome equivalent rechargables anyways. Plus theyre slightly more geeky, which helps keep my 'dark side' status at work healthy..

Aah but..... they are only 1300 mAh !

Regular rechargeable AAs are 2600 or 2800 and Duracells are 2850 or so.

They won't last very long. Just looking at how much battery space the USB plug takes is a giveaway.

Ideal for an MP3 player (which im getting em for)
Charge during the day, listen to MP3 player that evening.

Well it can, I've recharged aaa's using a biro spring as the connector. I buy mine Here

But it says they are Lithium single use batteries NOT FOR RECHARGING

Its disposable Lithium Iron Disulphide chemistry should not be confused with rechargeable Lithium-Ion technology.

I use AA batteries for several things - camera, personal cd player (yes I'm a donosaur!), torches - I've given up on rechargeables as they just don't seem to last very long on each recharge. I find it easier just to make sure I always have a good supply of throwaway ones.
