Bleedin' Rear Brake

Having a few problems changing the brake fluid on the rear brake of my falco. No bubbles coming out but brake only just comes on with the pedal all the way down.

My thoughts are that because the bleed nipple is right at the bottom of the caliper along with the brake pipe, the top of the caliper, ie the piston, is full of air that is just sat there while my nice new fluid just gets pumped straight out of the bottom.

If so, my idea is to just take the caliper off and turn it upside down ("just" he says - not looked at it yet but if it's as much of a pain as changing the oil and plugs that would be easier said than done) or is there an easier way that should be staring me in the face.

If not, WTF is the problem?

Thanks anyway but time seems to be at a bit of a premium these days - doing most of this at work during lunchbreaks.

It's not a problem, I should be able to get it done tomorrow now that I know I'm barking up the right tree.

Rear brakes on Falcos - they're just there for show.

Not on a standard Falco rear brake he ain't, as Andy says, just for show.
A bit of gold Brembo bling, that does very little.
Kept toying with the idea about a modified unit, that I think is probably still available, but never got around to it.

Well my back brake works perfectly ok. In fact you can stop the bike using it (admittedly it takes a bit longer than the fronts as they're twin disk and more pistons)

Can't be that much wrong with it - you can lock the back wheel without too much effort.

Well you could anyway until I started messing about with it and filled the bloody thing with air.
