I know its MCN, but take a look at this;

Myself I'd like to think that Maybe the boss of Bridgestone might threaten to pull the plug, it'd make Rossi look frigging stupid IMO.

Rossi is the riders' spokesman isnt He? Any influence He has had has been as a result of the status the Sport has given him. Rossi rode on Dunlops at the start of his career in the 250s (and i think, 125?) moving on to Michelins in the MotoGP. This was on various different bikes from various manufacturers.. he now uses Michelins.

Ducati, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki all use Bridgestone, as well as no doubt others. They think one man, who isnt winning titles the last 2 years, has that much influence?! Whatever.. The boss of Bridgestone is just bitter that Michelin have 'the man' and not Bridgestone

But is he?

I mean it can be read in various ways and TBO a one tyre rule makes it easy for 1 manufacturer to not spend as much on development, after all the competition has been erased.

For all we know they could use revised ordinary track tyres, the sort everyone uses for trackdays, it'd save them a fortune.

They will still have to develop for the individual manufacturers though? They cant just say 'Here's a tyre, crack on' It doesnt work like that. If anything they will have more development to carry out in order to make the tyres safe for all.

In which case if I was a tyre manufacturer I'd walk away.

Ah but it's speculate to accumulate, isnt it.

A MotoGP Race bred tyre will sell better than a tinpot WSB one..

'Technology as used by Valentino Rossi in the MotoGP' sounds better than 'Technology as used by some austrian backmarker in WSB'
