Well I sold the Falco a while ago and got a fazer 1000....... this has proved a great, reliable, fast, comfortable, boring, bland bike. Its really good at a number of things except making the rider smile. The Falco had loads of charachter and made me grin like a cheshire cat.
However we all move on and there are so many bike and so little time...
any way
I am now considering either
1, a 2000 Triumph Daytona last of the "curvey" shape
or
2, a 2000 Suzuki TL1000R
Colour is yet to be agreed but (dont all curse me !!!!) a Yellow TLR is looking quite appealing
so anyone ridden either of these?
On paper they appear pretty potent beasts although the Daytona has the edge in tank range and acceleration.
I am looking to test ride both but interested in others opinions. My riding tends to be sunday blast and a couple of long hauls over to Europe with 500 mile days
Cheers
Matt

Took my mates TL for it's mot last year ...I think it was a 1999ish one...seemed to have lots of instant grunt (but it did have a TRE fitted and smaller front sprocket so it should have eh)
but didn't handle or feel as good as the Falco..the TL motor is a lot smoother being a 90 degree twin and rode better in traffic... I think 1999ish is the one with the rotary rear damper thingy wotsname fitted and I'm sure they have frame cracking issues due to that, not sure when they changed to a standard shock
Also it had a lot of engine noise (cammy tappety type ) and I think this is common.
Mind you my bro' has the Cagiva raptor with the same motor fitted....this is just a fun fun bike ...same weight as a 250 with TL stonk
I know nothing about Triumphs apart from they sound well ha ha...a bit like my mates Trident.
not much use but it's all I know

My lad's got the 955i and I've ridden that. I liked it a lot, great motor, smooth and fairly torquey and, much like the Falco, could be ridden according to your mood. I found it a bit slower steering than the Falco and the brakes were OK but not as strong. Comfy though and he's done several European tours on it and no real reliability issues - plus IMHO, it's a great looking bike.
The ride is the reason ........ the destination is just the excuse.
Hi,
I rode my brother's 955i - if thats the 2007 model Daytona, this summer. His is modded for comfort with a Sargent seat and bar risers.
Smooth , quick and makes a nice noise. With the mods it is very comfortable and a real mile muncher. Handling was good too, the suspension compliant and set up for sports touring, so lacked a little feed back if going quick.
Probably a match for my modded Falco. Maybe a little more top end, better range, more comfortable, but less punchy and 'chuckable'.

Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today
TL engine is great, a real peach, not so sure about the rest of the bike though. Throw enough cash at it and it'll handle really well, but so will any bike and it's still fugly IMO. Triumph feels and looks good, but is too tall for me (may not be an issue for you) and is top heavy.
Honest opinion? You should have kept the Falco and spent a bit on making it properly yours. By now you'd have a bike that would easilly beat both of the ones your looking at for your purpose.
