Had you down as an "All Year" chap Paddy!
Mine will be ridden throughout (but maybe not quite as frequently during the worst weeks) ... no choice at present - car nicked over 5 weeks ago, found by the police within the hour ...... still at the garage being repaired.
The good side of this ....
1) No company car tax to pay for this period
2) I have to ride my bike every day - no excuses to wimp out

Those days are over for me. Especially when I rode a GSXR750 through the winter. The salt got into everywhere. Wrecked the paint, furred the ally and corroded the electrical terminals.
Also my knees told me to behave aswell

Im thinking of doing the same thing. I have a 4-day tour of the South East on her starting Saturday and then Im probably gonna call it a season too... put her up on the workbench and start the long list of winter mods... most of which I started collecting parts for over a year ago.

Whilst I confess to avoiding the worst of the winter weather and any days when there's a ton of salt down I will be out at least once a fortnight just to keep my hand in....
....and justify the purchase of Hot Hands
Actually - after last winter thanks to regular washing (and liberal use of Scottoil protective spray stuff) there were no ill effects other than the dreaded "Ooh That Looks Dodgy I'll Keep It Fairly Upright Here" tyre squaring.

... What he said!
Yep - I think that dealing with the dodgy surfaces is a good thing in helping to keep you aware of your bike's limitations, the roads limitations and generally keeping you on your toes .... even if (in my case) it does induce wimp-mode tippy-toeing at (probably) greater levels than may be strictly necessary

Surely the" winter" won't be much different to the "summer", it's just a name ! Pick your days and put another layer on , no prob !

Think you're right .... except that Summer is the Low-Salt version of the two varieties
