Quick throttle

#1 Post by BigE » Mon Sep 10, 2007 9:23 pm

Does anybody else find that there is too much of a twist involved to get to full throttle? I have realised that I hardly ever use full throttle because to get there I need to have my elbow somewhere near my ankle!

A friend of mine recently bought a gizmo to quicken the throttle on his Suzuki TL1000R. He says the results are amazing - like having an extra 20bhp (it was just a larger plastic cam that the throttle cable goes round so that it goes from closed to fully open in a smaller arc)

Does anyone know if such a device is available for the Falco?

why not slacken the throttle off and roll it forward by 30 or so degrees then tighten it again?

and i never use all the throttle, cos if i do it might go over the speed limit ossifer and i would never want to do that ever.....

(also, if i do crack it open to fast in first its "hello blue sky, my front wheel wants to meet you"!)

I think there is, may have seen on the AF1 site, try there.

I was thinking about this a couple of years ago and a shop nearby had quick action throttles, mostly used for motocrossers. The chap advised me agains them as on a Vtwin it's the quickest way to highside territory.

The ones he had were the quarter turn from closed to open jobbies so not quite the same as you are looking for.

ooh cool, something to give me even less control and warning when things are going pearshaped, i'll take 2 :smt001

Remember 83% of all falconeers are over 60 so this may be good for their arthritic wrists but may not be good when their hips crack onto the ground from 12feet up :smt003

Not sure that the "other" 17% of Falconeers would appreciate cracking things onto the ground from 12' up either! :smt103

There was a thread (old site?) somewhere about the ages of Falco riders... made for interesting reading.

What about THESE .May be interchangable ?
And I believe the average age was about 42.
Which makes me VERY Average :smt001

In that case, it's 'youngsters' like me who are helping to drag the average down. Fractionally. :smt002

Does that mean I'm above average?

I fitted a quick action throttle to my CB400F ... but before I fitted it, that did need two complete handfuls to get the throttle wide open - it made a real difference.

Never needed it on the Falco - can seem to open it all the way without any problem (except for the obvious in lower gears!).
I'd guess it would accentuate any of the low speed snatchiness of throttle response that can be there coming off and on the throttle.

My mutant streetfighter has a quick-action throttle. 1/4 turn from closed to fully open. It's great on the track, but absolutely shite on the road.
