A - Z of motorcycles

#1 Post by Falcopops » Fri Sep 07, 2007 7:54 am

Was very bored on the train this am so I started listing motorcycle manufacturers alphabetically in my head and was surprised that I only failed to fill E, O, W and X. I'm a little dubious about J and U.

Any howlers in my list?

Aprilia
BMW
CZ
Ducati
E
Fantic
Greaves
Honda
Indian
Jawa? (covered by CZ perhaps)
Kawasaki
Laverda
Matchless
Norton
O
Panther
Quazar (sp)
Royal Enfield
Suzuki
Triumph
Ural?
Vincent
W
X
Yamaha
Zundapp

As I say very bored.

(Edited to put in the non Scots letters of the alphabet, as pointed out by D-Rider. Not sure how that happened)

Dale, just off the top of my head, some more candidates for the missing letters.

Excelsior or EMC
Ossa

.... can we cheat with the "W" and go for Rudge-Whitworth? (if only they'd named it the other way round)

Well done on the rest of the alphabet ..... should I assume that the letters "G, H, I & Y" don't exist in the Scottish dialect?

Maybe:
  • Greeves
    Hesketh
    Italjet
    Yamahahaha

MZ
Villiers
New Hudson
Velocette

Has this thread changed from:
  • Try to find the name of a motorcycle manufacturer for every letter of the alphabet.
To
  • List up the names of any motor cycle manufacturer you can think of as long as it happens to start with one of the letters of the alphabet
..... becoming as challenging as one of those phone in competitions with 3 answers such as "Which of these is a cheese?"
  • A) Mount Vesuvius
    B) Cheddar CHEESE
    C) The Titanic

The answer is C isn't it?, Captain Smith's Titanic Cheese, as produced in Staffordshire.

I always thought that the Titanic was made of Plate Iron and that it sunk when it hit the EU butter mountain :smt017 Mightve been hard cheese. It's explain why it sunk the ship instead of just making a glooping sound as it ran into it.

Dodgy stuff cheese.. :smt011

So how about a list A-Z of manufacturers who are no longer around, bet that'll be harder.
