RSV swingarm (again)

#1 Post by Falcopops » Thu Aug 16, 2007 11:05 am

Hopefuly this is a new one!

I've had the swing arm for a while now, but it didn't come with a spacer. I got another arm for the plastics (it was too baly dented for anything else) and when I took the bearings out there was no spacer in it either.

So do you reckon I need one?

Yes, because...

The spacer prevents overtightening and thus the bearings being pulled thru the (soft) alloy swing arm or frame itself...

errm...

or something similar. Is it not a pressed fitting inside the swingarm itself?

I do believe you need it.

I would have thought so too (echo Kwackerz thoughts there). Can't say I looked for one in mine as the bearings etc were all intact when i got it.

Could you take the spacer out of the falco arm? I'd imagine it'd be the same set up given they're a direct swap for each other.

I have got one in my Mille swinger.
I've checked on Aprilia Yorkshire and the spacer has the same part number as the spacer on the Falco - so you could use that one.

Yup thought so.

Didn't want to use the Falco's 'coz I didn't want to take the bearings out.

And that leads me on to my next question. How the hell did the spacer get out of the bent mille arm when the bearings were sill in it?

Still they're only 11 quid or so, best get a new one.

Cheers chaps

I guess you could always make one up for even less if you can get hold of some ally tube.
Measured mine today:

Length 195mm
Outside diameter 26mm
Inside diameter 20mm (although probably not critical as long as the swinging arm pin can pass through it)
