best exhaust and why

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Mon Aug 13, 2007 9:27 pm

just a thought

what is the best exhaust for the falco?

I bought my fuel cans because i wanted more "rumble" and at the time I liked the looks of them
(I will be changing soon though....)

so - others opinions on which cans to go for

I suggest that we consider:

Looks
Build Quality
sound
performance
removable baffles

so - thoughts all?

Renegades are best for it, sound fabulous and they don't look like they suffer dropsy like the original system.

Whatever they are they have to be carbonfiber for the antibling. Round are so 80's, oval 90's, billet end caps are the mutts nutts.

Or have any old shite and hide them out of site of course :smt002

I have Beowulf warriors they seem to be very good value for money (£350ish)
They look good (well I think so- check gallery)
Seem well made (lifetime guarantee)
Sound good (Fausto and HowardQ seem to like theirs as well)
Have removable baffles (Which don’t need to be removed to sound good)
As for performance, I haven’t noticed any real difference (I’m not a good enough rider to notice subtle changes, if any)

But, having heard Paddyz1's "modified" stock items, they'd be high up on the list for me :smt020

+ 2 :smt007 but then again i've not tried any thing else. i think that engine would make any exhaust sound good.

+3 on Blueflames. Confirm all that has been said.

Fuel - v good value for money (meaning-cheap) :smt005
Acrapovic - money no object approach. Best money can buy (?)

Blue Flame twin ports on mine. Look fab and the sounds is very meaty. You alsohave the option of baffles in or out and bungs in or out. I run with baffles in but the lower port bungs out. Not chipped and have still noticed improved mid range grunt.

I've got a Fuel can waiting to go on when I fit my Mille pipes. It looks extremely well made - but I can't comment on noise or power until I fit it.

I've got the carbon effect stainless version.

Has anyone actually tried more than one set of after-market pipes on their Falco? Cos otherwise surely we can only suggest "these worked for me" rather than a "these were better than those" type comment.

Only thing I noticed about my Wolf carbons cans is they discoloured which I discovered was down to the wadding wearing out. They got a yellowish tinge to them and became brittle and started colapsing where the band goes. They are still on my track bike with re-enforcing thanks to fibreglassing and repacked.

I think its a common fault with bare carbon tubes and because of this akrapovic and some others are titanium inside with a carbon tube? or I could be wrong :smt001

Not that it bothers me cos carbon out-cools shiny stuff by about 3 lightyears.

Packing needs replacing a lot sooner on a V Twin thumper rather than on an IL4 bike. All down to those pulses.. which give you that nice noise...

It's not a common fault of the cans so much as the owners not being informed on how to look after them properly. Linking that to owners not being arsed to spend the money on repacking as the sound sounds nice when the packing goes, you now have the manufacturers sleeving carbon over stainless.. in a bid to retain their good name (even if it's the owner's fault)

:smt002

Ally Pally bike show used to be a good place to get new sleeves cheap for rebuilding cans.
