My dads thinning down his collection of bikes noone ever wanted, so who wants them now? 20 years later? with a million better bikes to buy?

Such a shame they're all post '76 bikes.

Like Tim I like the last one, but I'd not want it either, not old enough.

Well if I leave it as long as last time, it'll mean slinging my leg over a saddle at about the ripe old age of 81.

I still love motorbikes, but I've had enough of falling off them and I seriously doubt I'll ever get back on one.

Yes - I do understand (really).

.... but even in that comment the resolve is weakening .... the subtle shift from an "I'll never ride again" to an "I seriously doubt ...."

.... until one day someone shows up on something really special and offers you a go - or Pierre's dad has another clear out and amongst his collection of bikes that no one wanted is some prize, rare, pre '75 delight that happens to be the bike you've wanted since you were a kid (OK - a long way pre-'75 in that case) ...

That "I still love motorbikes" is the burning ember that will not go out - just awaiting a random breeze to fan it back into flame.

I can pretty much guarantee whats going to happen here.............Pierre is gonna go out to the pub this week, get pissed and come home for a drunken e-bay session and end up buying his dads old bikes in a haze of nostalgia!

Complete rebuild including engine by an experianced mechanic with new parts from David Silver spares.

...... and would this experienced mechanic have a fine collection of lump hammers for fettling machines such as this (not to mention an aladin's-cave of exotic ebay purchases as hinted at in bigun's post above)?

I turn the pc off now before i go out and it takes so long to boot up anyway i'd be asleep.

And my dad ordered tyres for his pair of bmw 'things' he's just bought and when they didnt turn up after 2 days he emailed them (he thinks) after he came in from the pub
