Clearly it's from the Sun so should be taken with a pinch of salt..
POP legend Sir Elton John wants the internet CLOSED DOWN.
Never one to keep his opinions to himself, the Rocket Man has waded into cyberspace with all guns blazing.
He claims it is destroying good music, saying: “The internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other, creating stuff.
“Instead they sit at home and make their own records, which is sometimes OK but it doesn’t bode well for long-term artistic vision.
“It’s just a means to an end.
“We’re talking about things that are going to change the world and change the way people listen to music and that’s not going to happen with people blogging on the internet.
“I mean, get out there — communicate.
“Hopefully the next movement in music will tear down the internet.
“Let’s get out in the streets and march and protest instead of sitting at home and blogging.
“I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut down the whole internet for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span.
“There’s too much technology available.
“I’m sure, as far as music goes, it would be much more interesting than it is today.”
Multi-millionaire Elton, who turned 60 earlier this year, has admitted in the past that he is a bit behind the times. The Grammy award-winner was once quoted as saying: “I am the biggest technophobe of all time.
“I don’t have a mobile phone or an iPod or anything.
“I am such a Luddite when it comes to making music. All I can do is write at the piano.”
I wouldve said however that it is Sir Elton who is destroying good music. Some of his old stuff may indeed be classic and quality, but most of his modern stuff is just Dogtoffee

Don't think he's that well known for socialising with the ordinary people - interacting with them and developing their creative talents.
Like all such 'celebs' he seems to spend his time trying to outdo all the other 'lovies'.
As for the social value of the internet and it's ability to facilitate creativity - well, just look at our forum. We chat with like minded people (yet are a group that have a great diversity of opinion), we creatively discuss modifications to our bikes (and discuss other issues) - it even prompts us to meet up occasionally - we would not be able to interact in this way without the internet.
My kids spend a lot of time on MSN - it allows them to interact with their friends far more than I did when I was their age - I had to get out my bicycle and cycle from my village to where they lived. I used to do this quite often but nowhere near as much as the kids communicate today - and they are still able to meet up as well.
Just another over-paid musician trying to protect his inflated revenue stream .................

'get out and socialise more' from the tart who exited an elevator , was recognised, and jumped back in screaming like a teenage old girl ' i wanna go home i wanna go home'
Never mind, he'll be dead soon

Elton John walks into a tattoo parlour and asks for a tattoo of a Rolls Royce on his cock.
The tattoist says "Why don't you get a Landrover, they don't get stuck in the sh*t"
