James Toseland's manager has confirmed that Yamaha have expressed a "hot interest" in bringing the World Superbikes championship leader to Moto GP, but insists that no offer has yet been made.
The 2004 Superbikes champion is still weighing up his options; the lack of a factory ride for MotoGP team could see him stay in Superbikes for another year, but his manager Roger Burnett says that Yamaha's interest is strong and not just from their satellite Tech 3 team.
"There is hot, hot interest from Yamaha as a company, and not just Tech 3. But we have not had an official offer," he told MCN.
"An offer on the same bike and tyres as [Valentino] Rossi would be a seriously attractive option."
Toseland's current Superbike team Ten Kate Honda are expected to try and keep him in the sport for one more season by offering him a guaranteed top Honda ride in MotoGP in 2009.
He will speak with them at this weekend's WSB round in Brno before deciding for definite on whether he wants to make the jump to MotoGP next season

Does anyone outside Britain believe that JT is MotoGP bound?
It just seems that ex 250 GP riders get on better with the 800cc machines. Ex Superbike riders did reasonably well on the 990's but that time is past. I can't help feeling that there are too many good, seasoned (i.e. 2 years+) 250 riders around who have as good (or better) a chance. There aren't many seats to fill and there aren't many prospective "retirees".
I wish JT well. I've never been a fan but I wish him no ill. I hope he gets a MotoGP ride so he can say that he did it...
...I just don't see him getting into a team capable of sustaining a season-long challenge, so I expect he'll end up another British "also-ran".

Bradley is doin' well for a Brit.
Cant remember but I assume he was from the ACU academy. It's rare for anyone outside of the ACU clique to even get a sniff at a wildcard ride in the 250s let alone a shot on anything else bigger. Pity as there are some seriously good riders out there (Alex Gault) struggling their way thru the Club racing scene without the ACU picking 'em up and supporting em.
Which doth piss me off somewhat...

At the root of your grievance is the lack of sponsorship money going into the sport. More sponsors money = more British 125GP teams = better chances/exposure for our young riders (without said riders having to sell their sisters to raise the "entry fee").

Not at all!! At the root of my Grievance is the ACUs lack of support for upcoming British Riders unless theyve been under the ACU's wing.

As you may know Alex was to contend the European GSXR CUP this year however Although Alex was well with in the international age limits for the championship the ACU refused to give Alex dispensation to race as he was 8 months too young by their rules, so the ride was given to someone else and Alex was sidelined up until now he has been contesting various rounds in various championships as by that time the decision was made contending one particular championship was impossible.

On JT and WSB in general, I think the money is good the enviroment exciting, very little to tempt the riders to take to Motogp top flight, unfortunatly
