little advice re clutch

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Tue Jul 10, 2007 5:00 pm

just did an oil change, and have noticed I have a little clutch slip at the moment

I used 10/40 semi synthetic oil by the way

I do not recall any before the oil change - is the is slight clutch slip down to the oil change and will rectify it self after a few miles??

am welcome to any thoughts on this :)

allmost certainly the oil you've used alad,10w40 is to thin, a 15w50 is a better choice.

took me a while to find 15/50, and even then seemed to get a small bit of slip when it was 1st changed. settled down quite quickly though.

i use putoline comp 4 15w50, it claims to have anti slip properties and in 4k i've not had a problem.

Pete, what make oil did you use?

May help anyone else making the same mistake (if indeed it is an oil issue)

I used 10/40 for the entire time I had the Falco with no problems, but I did have the Barnett clutch in there for quite a while

that was Putoline - I was trying to get the bike sorted prior to both the oxford run this week end and a possible dyno run

I have some 15/50 semi arriving tomorrow - will swop it over

(Will keep left over oil 10/40 flavour to top the wife's car up.... I know she has nfi where the 710 cap is)
