Harry Potter.

#1 Post by Kwackerz » Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:35 pm

..and the Deathly Hallows..

Coming out 21st July I believe?

So gwaan then.. Does Harry die in the end like the US papers are saying, or does He live to marry Ginny Weasley?

As much as I dont really 'do' books of late, Im quite looking forward to the last in the Potter series. If nothing else, it's better than the shite they stick on the Telly!!

I've read all of them and they get better each time imo.

I'm going to avoid the talk about what happens to young Potter tho, detracts from the story really and what do the yanks know anyway :smt017

The series has done an invaluable service in getting kids into books again. :smt001

Correct. However I heard the whole of one of them read by I think it was Stephen Fry on the radio one Xmas and it was more than enough thank you.
I'll grant that they are very grown up childrens books but there's always that childishness in there that spoils it for me. Can you tell I don't review books for a living?

Can confess to having read the His Dark Materials trilogy which is I suppose in the same target bracket age wise.

Erm...... not sure I understand this Gio.

Unless you're thinking His Dark Materials is connected to JK Rowling. It's not. It was written by a bloke called Philip Pulman (I think).

Not sure of the stature of his man boobs :smt003

His dark materials is a world apart from the stunted wizard

I will give it up big time for Rowling getting kids reading - and I believe she is a plagiarist to the nth degree

But - His Dark Materials is something else - the first 80 or so pages it reads like a kids book - then I think Pullman got bored and said bollocks to it all - then wrote something very very dark that questions an awful lot of things.

The first film comes out this year, and if it is true to the book, the Bible Belt is not going to be happy....

Yup - I am looking forward to the film. Did I hear that it was only going to one film though?

Anyway I hope it's a damn site better than the bloody LOTR

sacrilage - LOTR - the full versions on DVD are awesome I think - would be hard to better

and no, the first film is just of His dark materials - it has a different title so the americans do not get confused however....

Nah sorry BUT the LOTR in whatever format you choose had me close to hysteria - especially the last one. That could have been covered quite nicely in one hour - not twenty!! :smt009

roflmao

kets agree to differ - I loved the whole series.. I remember going to see the first one in norwich, for an afternoon screening on the day of release... and telling the usher that if any kids spoilt my enjoyment of the film I would be forced to slap them

and having 20 odd other anoraks around me nodding in agreement.....
