H&L FOR LEATHERS:
June 19 2007.
Helmets, leathers, gloves and boots are an increasingly expensive part of the biker's kit. So it's no surprise that an increasing number of bikers chose to insure them against damage. The problem is that many helmet and leather policies haven't kept up with rising values, whilst premium costs are often too high.
In short, they don't do the job and they don't give good value.
Now Bikesure has taken the issue by the scruff of the neck and launched a new Helmet & Leathers (H&L) policy, giving great cover at a minimal cost. H&L costs only £20 a year yet gives cover for up to £1,000 on all leathers, including jacket, trousers, boots and gloves, and helmets (subject to a £50 excess).
"Standard helmet and leathers policies just don't cut it anymore," says Robert Balls of Bikesure. "Our H&L policy takes account of the typical value of helmets and leathers, delivering a proper level of cover at a minimal cost."
Bikesure has a huge range of specialist policies for the motorcycle enthusiast, including schemes for performance and custom bikes, scooters, trikes, quads and bug riders. It is part of the Adrian Flux Insurance group. For details freephone the Bikesure quote line on 0800 089 2000, email the company at bikesure@adrianflux.co.uk or visit www.bikesure.co.uk
Riding kit insurance- Seems a fair price for the cover.

Nice one TC
In the evnt of a collision that is not your fault, the other parties insurer should pay up for a new lid as a matter of course as the insurance companies are aware that they are a one drop item. This was told to me by both an insurance company and my solicitor. Even a policy for a grand seems a bit on the low side these days, my crash helmet would take up half of that, and most decent 2 piece leathers are £600. but £20 a year is bloody good value, and when you need to replace stuff after a crash, you need it then, not 6 months or more down the line when the other parties insurer finally settles. I for one will be taking out just such a policy tomorrow. Anyone who knows my track record in the "bouncing down the road on your arse/head/arse/head/Ouch etc!!! will know why
