Which side stand
Hi all. I realise this will have been discussed to death but which would be best. Fire blade is rather expensive. Is the Firestom stand the same as an SP1? What about this gixer one, would it do?

Re: Which side stand
Don't know enough about the Firestorm stand to comment, same with the Gixxer stand, tbh. Many years ago I had a Gixxer stand modified to fit the Falco but it was a real faff and probably not worth it. My favourite stand is the Honda Blackbird (CBR1100XX) side stand. It bolts straight on, but just needs a hole drilling at approx 4 o'clock for the pin to fit in the correct place. Here's a pic of (L to R) a BB stand, a Blade stand and the GSXR stand showing angle of dangle.
The BB stand is slightly longer and will stand the bike slightly more upright - ideal if you've raised the rear ride height. The Blade stands are getting pricey now everyone knows they fit, and I wouldn't recommend the GSXR stand as it kicks out too far and is a PITA to modify. Same stands in same order, but front view:
And lastly a view of the extra hole you'll need to drill on the BB stand if you want it to fit straight off. I have heard of people jiggling the switch pin to a different location so it works without any drilling, but it's not something I've done.

Hmm. Thanks for that. Unfortunately I'm on the standard shock and on the balls of my feet as it is. BB would probably be too long. Might be easier to just weld a plate onto the Falco stand

The Falco stand is a bit rubbish in a number of ways. I could send you the GSXR stand shown above, as that should work well with the standard shock. I've no further use for it.

Sorry for late reply. Emails regarding replies to threads seem to take days to come through. Yeah, that would be great if you don't need it.

PM me your address and I'll dig it out and send it off. I'm off to France in just over a week's time so will need to get it done before then.
