Update for fun - The Tracer 7 proved to be perfectly capable but, as expected, I got a little bored so swapped it for a BMW F900XR. Just as capable, a little more oomph, and better build quality.
End of story? Hmmm.
After 9000 miles (only 7k of them mine) the chain was baggy enough to skip with. Replacement cost? £585
So, in a hissy fit of titanic proportions (and some genuinely inspiring mathematical/financial justifications), I vowed never to replace a chain again and bought a shaft drive MotoGuzzi V100S Mandello
Have to say, I bloody love this bike!
Comfy, steers like a dream, oomphy enough for me. Sit
in the bike in an almost Falco-esque way. Plenty of luggage options, good quickshifter, cruise control, electric screen (how can anyone get tired of that??). Oh, and it has wings! Thought that was a bit gimmicky but they keep a surprising amount of wind and rain off. Sailed through the 900 mile service, next one due at 7500.
So, left Italian bikes for a pathetically short period of time but always good to know yourself

Remember, when you are dead, you do not know you are dead. It is only painful for others.
The same applies when you are stupid.
