A bit too close to home

#1 Post by Kwackerz » Wed Jun 13, 2007 4:27 pm

Came home from work today to find my eldest close to tears.

Apparently her friend from school was one of the two girls found murdered in Stretham earlier this morning. The children were informed in assembly this afternoon. :smt012

What is it with our modern age!? I feckin' despair! Why take the life of children?

Rest in peace you two.

Indeed but nasty, pointless violence, (as opposed to nice, meaningfull violence!? :smt017 ), has always been a part of human nature, its just in modern times we have had it more n more forced down our throats by the media.
Condolences to the Families and your Daughter; It must be very hard to bare.
Two is the magic number... ;)

I work not far from there, didn't even know it had happened.

Thoughts with you, never easy at any age.

Stretham, Cambridgeshire, not Londonshire.. :smt002

Thanks for all the kind words. Told my Eldest that I'd mentioned it on RS and she said Thankyou for your kind thoughts, etc.

Seems they had no lessons at School today, Year 8 basically spent the day coming together and getting to grips with it all. Kids were spoken to by the Teachers but I dont know if there were counsellors, etc.
The School have dedicated a Tree in the School Grounds to the Sisters's memory, which is nice. Theyre having a plaque put up on it or alongside it.

Again, From Becky, Thankyou. xxx

My best wishes to Becky and her friends too. I'm not sure that counselling is the best way to deal with these things - talking to each other and their families is prolly best.
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
