Rear brake switch

#1 Post by bigun » Sun Jun 10, 2007 8:51 am

Hi,

I need to get my bike mot-ed this week and noticed yesterday while checking a few things over that the rear brake switch is knackered. The brake lights work from the front so I have brake lights. Would it be an mot failure?

If it is, would any old switch fit or is it Mr Aprilia rip off and long waiting time for me?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Bigun

Theres one on my trackbike if you want it but I dunno if it works cos theres no lights :smt003

My mates gsxr had rearsets on with no switch and we just gaffa-taped a small alarm tamper switch to click when you pressed the lever.

Cheers m8. I'll see if I can get one on the hill tom. I've seen a universal one for £3.50 at M&P on the net so will see whats what. Failing that, I'll give you a shout. Thanks. :smt001

I had to replace mine and the Aprilia part only cost about a tenner I think and my dealer had them in stock. Take the old one along though because they did try to give me the wrong one to start off with.

Cheers.

I'm going to Kawasaki Newcastle after work tonight as they've broken a few RSV's recently so hopefully have one lying about. Bloomin mot failure for a pesky switch. Its only knackered cos i never use it!

I broke my switch when I decided I would remove it for some stupid reason. Seems they are made of tinfoil and it just collapsed when I applied a spanner. So go easy on the new one.

I'll have to get another b4 next MOT I guess.
