I'm Falco clueless!
I'm in need of some urgent enlightenment, I've more or less got a deal on a Falco with a view to tuonoising it. I'd prefer to use genuine yokes if I can get them but they mostly appear to pop up for sale in the states, I've just missed some on UK eBay and I'm kicking myself 😥. What are the recommended after market ones? The bike I'm looking to buy has about 17000 miles on the clock, its had the charging mod done and the seller described is as having switchable mapping. I spoke to him today and he said it's a common mod where one ECU wire is cut and this changes the map settings, however he's put a switch in enabling toggling between the 2 settings. I'd appreciate any thoughts.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi matt
There are several options for raising the bars including the rare as hens teeth falco streetfighter kit. If you want tge Tuono ones they do come up.
The wire is common though why you would switch backis beyond me. The original map is to gain EU appdoval and has a flat spot in it.
I think most dealers used to cut it on a PDI more rare to find one not done
Plenty on hete have specific knowledge on most things and will no doubt be along shortly

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

I'd try and find out if the chip that's fitted is the standard Aprilia one or an aftermarket item. Both Gabro and Forza Italia chips come highly recommended. The OE chip has two maps - one for the 'as delivered' state with airbox restriction plate fitted, the other for when the dealer derestricts the bike. The restricted map has the particular wire intact; the derestricted map is active when the wire is snipped (as it nearly always is).
When I had both Gabro and Forza Italia chips I asked them to load both maps - map one (wire connected) for bike with just aftermarket cans, map two (wire disconnected) for aftermarket cans and airbox mod.

Yes, a chip from either Gabro or Ed (Forza Italia) will set you back about £50. Just tell them what mods you have (if any) and they will bake a chip to suit. Makes a major difference to smoothness, rideability and performance. I found my MPG actually improved with the new chip.Pan wrote:I presume it’s the standard eprom, but they are about £50 aren’t they?
The bike has carbon cans but not sure if it’s got a modified air box, hopefully I’ll know what I need by next week 😃

I've fitted a Forza FR100 to my falco, but at the same time, I had the throttle bodies balanced by Griff at Aprilia performance.
The bike wasn't bad before, but after the bike ran a lot smoother. And also the throttle response was so much better.
If you are down that neck of the woods it's worth calling in for it to be done.

Tolerance will be our undoing.
Any chip needs a degree of customising - Ed's chip leaves guys behind me with stinging eyes although my fuel economy's not too bad..
I've been in touch with Gab who needs to know (like Ed did) what cans and air filter you're using..
I think Gab will be my next choice as almost everything is being changed - Factory motor, 58 TBs, Akra pipes, 108/112 cam timing .. he has a shitload of experience of racing motors.
Just my tuppenceworth ..
