Clutch master cylinder bolt pitch

#1 Post by Chabby » Fri Jun 15, 2018 11:47 am

As title, am I right in recollecting that the hydraulic fittings on the Falco are all 1mm pitch as opposed to the Japanese norm of 1.25?

I'm in the process of fitting a bar conversion and having to extend the control lines. I want to put two separate lines to the front brakes so I can't use the original banjo bolt. Also, I want to fit a bleed bolt to the clutch master cylinder.

I've used the search function but can't find anything to confirm the pitch of the clutch fitting.

And before you all reach for the pitchfork sharpeners, I'm using a pre-distressed fairing which has been up the road to cut down rather than my pristine original.

Sorry but I can only answer your question in part,I don't know the thread pitch but buy yourself a thread size/pitch guage from Pro Bolt.
Made of stainless, credit card sized, the pitch guage goes from mega fine 0.5 to mega coarse, the bolt size guage goes from M4 to M12 with typical pitch type listed on what is ususal on the bolt size.
Handy bit of kit, never having to wait in hope that someone knows what youneed to know, it lives with my digital vernier caliper, another seldom used but invaluable bit of kit.
Love to see the end result, I am suffering from serios problems with my left wrist and waiting on surgery, long rides are no longer on the agenda for me

Thanks - I'm pretty sure they are 1mm pitch - was just hoping for a quick confirmation before I ordered the parts.

I can use a thread gauge but don't know if my eyes are up to discerning a .25mm difference.

In my case the higher bars are because the clip ons put my neck at too much of an angle which causes it to ache and restricts the length of time I can ride the bike.

I'm hoping the mods will gain me a few more years before I have to sell for an old man's ride like a GS .

You'll know if the thread is wrong with the gauge - almost no need to look!

Now I'm really going to sound like a Pro Bolt salesman !
The top of the card is shaped in a series of V shaped cut outs looking like mountains, the thread pitches are stamped intoeach side of the mountain, you just offer up the fastener to the guage... like a jigsaw puzzle but not at all puzzling, it matches or it dont !
Way way easier to use than those grandad sets like mini feeler guages with way too many options

I'm 99.9% sure that all threads on Brembo brake components are M10 x 1.00 pitch. As you say, the Japs tend to use 1.25 thread pitch.
