A shit end to shit week

#1 Post by fatboy » Fri May 25, 2018 3:52 pm

Some far from honest lorry driver reversed into my car causing so much damage that it would be written off as an unecomical repair.....
No they did not leave any details, no I did not see it happen, it was parked up on the industrial estate where I work.
I am certain it was a lorry because of the extent of the damage and the height of the impact, 75mm deep dent with torn jagged edges at point of impact, just above rear light.
No way you could not know you hit it you cunt

Have you looked into whether there's any CCTV that might help?

I don't think there will be BG, most cameras will be focused on areas where a burglar might attempt entry rather than on street parking but I will ask around next week.
I went back to the crime scene today to see if I could find any of the rear light lense so I might be able to repair instead of replace, all evidence removed...
The offender removed what was about a 5 inch piece or pieces of lense so my attention would not be drawn to it, I only noticed the damage when I stopped at the shops almost home

That really is a bit sh*t. I hope you get lucky with the CCTV.

Found the vehicle responsible !
Taken some photo's that 99% confirm, the transfer of red paint from the trailer to my car, the transfer of the blue base colour from car to trailer, the dent shape matches the shape of the trailer, I will measure the height tomorrow, definitive proof.
I spoke to my boss who said if needed we could pin it down to a time frame from our lorry cctv as they passed my car...not done, not done ...done.
The vehicle responsible belongs to an HGV Instructor, not had chance to collar her yet, then there are also potential witnesses, that would have made a lot of noise....

Well it is not the vehicle that did the deed, the owner explained several things to me and left me in no doubt she or one of her pupils did not cause the damage.
Hit and run

Oh dear - that really isn't good.
I guess that is where no claims discounts work against honesty and common decency. Maybe people would be more willing to own up to the damage they've caused if they weren't sure they would loose the big discount they've built up. Not that that helps you.

All sounds a bit too coincidental to me, Paul. If so much matches up, how can she explain it all away? Really hope you catch the culprit...

She told me several points,
her lorry and trailer were not there at the time and they never would be facing that direction, she always leaves the estate from the same direction and returns going round the block so the lorry is facing the same way as it left ( I walk past her lorries every working day, this is true and has been for the last 12 years I've worked there).
My car was parked 100 feet or so behind her lorry on that day.
She explained that the impact was caused by forward motion, that explains the folding and denting of the wing, the initial impact caused the folding, sharp steering lock caused the dent, the car was parked where an artic would start to turn into a side road.
The height of the impact is standard for a loaded artic,
CCTV from our own lorries show the car had been hit by 06.43, her first driving lesson started at 07.30.
She was absolutely sound, very helpful and angry that her profession had been let down by shoddy standards
