Looking for something new....

#1 Post by Dalemac » Wed Sep 06, 2017 9:31 pm

Hi All,

I'm thinking about buying a 'new bike' to go alongside the Falco in the garage.

I'm looking for something quicker than the Falco, which means a 1000cc inline 4.

I'd have about 3.5 - 4k spare to spend, so something like a 2006 era of zx10, r1 or similar.

Something like this, perhaps?

Anyone have any opinions either way?

RSV4 isn't an option - too expensive and I don't like the shape either :(

Having recently bought another bike to go alongside the Falco, you would think I might be able to give some useful input ...... however I've gone the other way for something a bit more relaxed (due to riding position) and have a Futura.

Were I going more sporty, for me it would 100% be an RSV4 .... but that doesn't help you either.

Sorry.

And I've never got on with kawasaki so ...
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

I like Kawasakis and a ZX-10 is a safe bet.

What about a 954 fireplace? A little less power than a ZX-10 but it will still annihilate a Falco in a straight line and perhaps a better bike.
Insert humourous comment here

I've always fancied one of them. By many people's reckoning they were the best of all the Blades, and will probably become collectable in a few years. They were only made for two years until the full 1000cc Fireplace was introduced, so not massive numbers about.

If it was me then I'd be after a GSXR1000 K4/K5.

Cheapish now but still a phenomenal bike.

Plenty of soul too - more than enough to leave brown stripes in your pants.

My brother in law had one he said it was crap after the R1, I like the shape but the built quality apparently leaves a bit to be desired.;

I agree, Jay. I've never owned one, and can't imagine I ever will, but if your desire is to go stupidly fast cheaply then they make good economic sense.

It may not be a runner but bits are being collected.
It'll probably become a retirement project .....

My CB400 is mine, sadly though its on hold with this broken wrist. Mind you certain parts have been previously fixed.
