Speedo sensor

#1 Post by old git » Sun Jul 09, 2017 3:17 pm

End of the ride today and according to the speedo, was doing 178MPH, 30MPH, 148MPH all within a 100 yd section of a local village.
So I presume that the speedo sensor had gone bang.
Anyone found a cheap source replacement, I am wincing at nearly £100 for this little part.
Maybe there is a similar part from a chinese bike etc. like there is for the solinoids/relays etc

Sounds like it. The workshop manual does tell you how to test it - so that may be worth doing.
I'm on my 3rd speed sensor .... the price has been ramping up and up since I bought my first .... about £20 back then. Crazy price now.
I don't know of a alternative - it would be very good lo find one.

I think Wayno found an alternative and included a description of what to look for in a generic replacement.
He also machined up a nifty little holder for said replacement.
Buggered if I can recall the title of the post but Wayno's the man
