Does Anybody Want To Buy A Pipe-Rack?

#1 Post by D-Rider » Sun Jul 09, 2017 2:04 pm

As a non-smoker, I have no need for a pipe-rack.
The slippers will come in handy but the pipe rack can go to a better home.

Yes, I've bought a "friend" for my Falco and now have a Futura too.
I'm hoping they will become a breeding pair.

I know you can tour on a Falco but these days my neck won't take it. A few years ago, a physio told me I needed a more upright bike and it's taken a while to heed his advice but with a fully luggaged-up Fut Fut for those touring duties and for other days when my neck is protesting, I'm hoping it will do the job.

From my quick test ride, the ergonomics seem good - much less neck strain.
I was pleasantly surprised how smooth it is at the bottom end ... it took much effort to get the Falco that good.
One thing I hadn't realised but was immediately noticeable is the restricted steering angle compared to the Falco.

Once I've got it all taxed up etc and have some miles on it, I'll let you know more.

This post is useless without pictures !!!!
We need to see the steed.
Good option, don't think you will regret it, soooo much easier to do long distance.
Good luck and ride safe.

Hope the new ride works for you.
I thought the only thing with a lesser steering angle than a Falco would be a 'series' Landrover

I had a bit of a nose round the Futura last night .... I had noticed the headlight moved a bit. I discovered that it wasn't bolted up properly on one side so I sorted that.
While it was apart, I discovered it has a Stebel Nautilus horn .... my goodness - that's loud (probably a very good thing given how quiet the bike is).

It wasn't until I put it all back together that I discovered that the dip beam isn't working - so I'll have to sort that out ..... maybe move to a LED set up ;)

I rode it to work this morning ...... I'm liking it very much for commuting - very smooth with a great power delivery - and a good lot of "go"
The riding position is just what I needed. No trouble with my neck despite wearing my heavier helmet. Using the tank bag rather than a rucksack was a plus too!

So far, so good.

It's a bit tatty but seems sound.
It has new tyres and full luggage. The panniers are rather battered but with a bagster tank bag, Hepco and Becker rack and 52litre top box that can hold 2 full face lids, it can carry a huge amount of stuff.
I think I got a bit of a bargain.

I hope the Falco doesn't start to feel left out.
