What wires?

#1 Post by Kenif » Wed Jun 06, 2007 9:53 am

This either a general, dead easy question or one of those ones where everyone has conflicting answers so...

I want to lay in some spare wiring for general mods/repairs but haven't been able to find the best/right type to get. I know the circuits run at 12V ish but what ampage?

If I put in 3amp cable, will it reduce/bugger up power flow? :smt009

If I put in 20amp will it overload/bugger up the circuit? :smt010

Been meaning to get some spare stuff for the Falco for ages and have just got an old GSXR off ebay which has given me some motivation (wiring is shagged) so any/all help gratefully received :smt001

As far as I know and I'm no expert, you can't go too big on the wire front. Go too small and they will burn up.

Amperage wise it depends on the power of the attachment (P=IV), work on 14.5 volts and you won't go far wrong.

I use these guys for wiring and the thinwall stuff is tops, carries more current for less overall diameter.
