Neutral Switch...

#1 Post by GregD-UK » Wed Nov 02, 2016 1:48 am

Hi all,

Can anyone tellme the location of the neutral switch pwetty pweasz? Have had starting issues ever since I broke down in Fort William. Bought the new battery startying wire upgrade off John. Decided to rip my alarm out and hey presto, now no neutral light when I turn the key. Except when I pull the clutch in and the neitral light lights up on the dash! Guessing a neutral missing somewhere....

Maybe, that's why my starting issues are happening.....

Want to get bike back on the road asap :)
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

There's a single black wire that runs down near the side stand area, I think that's it.

From what you describe it may be the diode pack that's got a loose wire, I had an issue with that and used some thin wire to pack up the connection, might be worth a little play

If you look at the alternator cover the neutral switch is about 5 o'clock to the cover.
If you have had that cover off it is all to easy to trap that skinny little wire when the stator magnets pull the cover back in on refitting, been there done that
Could even be a crudded up contact.
Not difficult to find, tiny little ring connector secured by a cross head screw
Cleverly disguised as an adult !

Hi all,

Thanks men. shall check it out. I had issues with the diode ages ago, had to cut all the wires and put on new connectors going into that sucker. Will try packing out as FP suggests ;)
