I was just going to transplant the original cap from the old tank.

That's all I've done with mine. Seems to work OK, so far.
There is/was some discussion about the filler cap over in the 'Carbon Tanks' sub-forums. (Pages 7 and 8 of the 'Updates' thread, if I remember correctly.)
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.
