watch your back

#1 Post by fastasfcuk » Mon Jun 04, 2007 12:51 pm

four of us had a cracking ride to willingham woods yesterday, then went on to cleathorpes, usual fish and chips then back to the bikes for a fag.just about to put the lids on when two chaps with vis jackets on and shades tapped my mate on the shoulder and with a hitler attitude told him any thing he said would be writen down (and all that bo---cks) and was giveing him a fixed penalty of £50 for dropping his fag end on the floor. he holds his hands and admits he was in the wrong but he was'nt given the chance to pick it up.then he looks at me and said and if you drop that i'm doing you. what a ba----d i'd love to meet him out. :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Heard something about this and wondered how to get round it.

I normally drop the but down a drain. So how would the enforcement nazi be able to prove I'd dropped it (if there was more than one down there). I suppose if there were two of them they could corroborate visual evidence, but if there is no litter on the street then where's the offence?

Stub the f**ker out in his eye and wedge the stub up his a**e, that shoul work :smt011

OK then...at the risk of being flamed and called all sorts..... way to go chaps!! I'm tired of the litter attitude in this country. So many people seem think it's OK to just drop whatever they've finished with on the floor and walk away. Even worse are the morons who throw their rubbish out of vehicles - apple cores, wrappers, drinks cans and, yes, lighted fag butts, without a thought for anyone else. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that has been hit by someone else's junk thrown from a car window.

If you try and ask someone to pick up their rubbish and put it in the bin you're lucky to get away without getting thumped. Why is it that so many people think that throwing their rubbish on the floor is socially acceptable? God knows what the inside of their homes look like - oh no, of course, most wouldn't sully their living space with litter; it's OK to do it to others though - strange logic. Of course, I've heard the excuse that 'It's bio-degradable' when talking about food and fags but the fact is that a: it takes a long time to rot and b: while it's doing so it's smelly and attracts vermin. And as for the dangers of throwing a lighted fag butt around........

So, if I've offended anyone it's not personal, however, if it takes yet another layer of officaldom to change attitudes then, for once, I say bring on the litter Nazis

End of rant: :smt008

I agree on the litter front. I will walk around with litter un my pocket 'till I find a bin. Bit more difficult with a fag though, but it still goes against the grain (for me) to drop them on the street, hence the drain thing.

Entirely agree.

The other thing that pisses me off is sitting on my bike at the lights with some motorist puffing away on a fag with the smoke wafting out of his window and straight up my nostrils .... that and the army of smokers (with associated smoke) you have to negotiate to get into almost any building these days.

Yep, I reckon, given the other options, the drain is the only other choice and at least it has the advantage of extinguishing the butt.

Maybe there's a marketing opportunity for a small metal canister with a bit of sand in it, about the size of a cigar tube, to put fag ends in?? Hmmm..... :smt115

I'm with you Tweaker a fag but is litter and litter should be taken home or put in a bin, end of.

I normally pick up any litter dropped by someone and give it back to them saying "you appear to have propped something" I rarely get agg back, they are normally sheepish rather than aggressive. If someone takes exception I normally point out that I am saving them money, by way of them not getting a fine.

So sorry fastasfcuk no sympathy here, take your litter home or bin it.

Got to admit I'm another with no sympathy.

He littered - he got caught - he got fined. Seems fair enough.

Its easy for me to agree now with the Nazi attitude, but I won't, those coppers should have been going after criminals.

I can see the point about the litter thing but no chance to pick it up and £50, you get fined less for drug use ffs.

And the 'drop that and i'm doing you' could have been hours of fun cupping the hands with fag butt in, staggering about like it was gonna escape and shouting " OUTTA MY WAY !! - CANCEROUS LITTER COMING THROUGH !!!!-_ FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN SOMEONE SHOW ME THE WAY TO A REFUSE CONTAINER SUITABLE FOR FLAMMABLE MATERIALS "

Or simply crack your heels together with a curt 'YAVUL' :smt003 (only cos a salute would probably get you a £10000 fine and your youngest set to work in the mines)

TBH, I'd missed the fact they were coppers and assumed they were Community Officers (or whatever they're called). But, thinking about it, I'm not sure they (the C.O) have the power to fine or arrest - not sure really. If they haven't, then maybe they should and thus release the coppers for chasing crims. That said, if the coppers are on patrol and pull someone for littering, they'll get my vote.

O/T. Called to see Rich yesterday, completely forgetting he was in the IoM, and Lisa told me about your off. I was gutted for you Gio and wish you a speedy recovery.

Cheers
