I should know this, but......

#1 Post by DavShill » Sat Feb 27, 2016 3:23 pm

........ where is the earth fixing point for the negative battery terminal.

Been having some slow starter motor behavior recently.

2nd question - starting routine has changed in the last few months. She no longer wants to start on the fast idle and I have to use half throttle to fire her up then settle her on the fast idle. Is it anything to worry about?

Thanks peeps.

I would remove the power lead from the starter and clean the terminals Dave.

When cleaned up cover the terminl with grease.

Make sure the threads on thee terminal are clean before removing the bolt, if not you may break the plastic lug inside the starter?
Tolerance will be our undoing.

The negative is on the left side of the motor under the frame rails.

Blinky's right though the positive side is more likely to be the issue.

Might be time to get a set of leads from John Walker on the facebook forum, I've got a ret on and the difference is incredible

Check the adjustment of the fast idle cable, too much slack means it wont open the butterfly valves and you can easily trash the sprag clutch, been there done that
