Check the tensioner assembly for the alternator, they have a habit of popping out after time and can jam into the clutch basket, causing a mess. If I remember they did most of them under a warranty /recall, but it's worth checking. Some of the early A1/A2 models were known to munch their cams and followers, usually on the right hand side, and the water drain on cylinder No4 can block as the bike is on it's side stand water can't drain out. While it's apart you could get a bigger piston kit in there, and some cams from either a GPZ1000RX or ZX10. these motors are very modular, it ran right through to the ZZR11 ZRX11 GPZ1100E, so there's plenty of stuff available for them, you could fit a block from a later bike on and increase the capacity that way.

Cheers Jam!
Had heard about the alternator tensioner and the cams made of toffee, wasnt aware of the drain hole. Something basic that'll need looking at.
I reset the cam chain tensioner the other weekend and now it is running fairly well, cancelling the need for a full stripdown.. however I do like the sound of more CCs to play with.
Dammit! back to the drawing board to rethink the plan

A GPZ1100E motor will drop stright in, fit ZZR1100 cams and CDI and you'll see around 133BHP at the wheel, with a pipe and jet kit, you can adapt a Factory Pro 2.5 kit for a ZRX1100, as the airboxes are similar, then overbore to 1109 using Wiseco pistons and you'll see around the 145/150BHP touch
You can also upgrade the running gear using GPZ1100E parts, or go for ZX9R B1/B4 USD front end. and rear wheel. Then stick a big blue bottle of gas on the side, and take it upto 200BHP!!!!!!!! New undercrackers please

Once the modification bug bites you'll never stop

The ZRX1100 lump will fit as it's virtually identical to the GPZ1100E, it just uses softer cams. You'll need to swap the steering stem from your 900 yokes into the ZX9R bottom yoke but any competant engineer should be able to do this for around 50quid. A ZX9 wheel or ZRX wheel or ZX^ from a later one will fit although you'll need to use the discs from the ZX9,as the ZRX11 discs are only 310mm, later ZRX12 uses 320mm discs which will also work calipers from a Suzuki Gixxer four pot nissins will fit or TL thou/'Busa 6 pots, as well as ZX6/ZX9 ZRX 6 pots. A Gixxer K1 to K4 wheel will fit, but you'd need the 320mm discs from the Gixxer K1/K2 or SVthou. Suzuki wheels are very useful as they'll fit most things with a bearing change. I use Gixxer thou K4 wheels in my ZRX650, the front needed no bearing swap as it was a K4 front end anyway, and the rear I changed the bearings to get down to a 20mm spindle from the 25mm stock size, bearing i think is a 6205 to fit your 20mm spindle using either a Gixxer wheel or ZX6. I've just done a conversion for a mate on the ZRXOC who may have a spare set of wheels up for grabs, I'll ask him and let you know
