fueling woes no prime.... ecu ??
Might need some help on this one, just installed a original 07 eprom chip back in the falco and now it won't start, in fact it doesn't even prime the fuel pump (no whirring noise)
And the fuel pump relay continuesly clicks!
The relay if checked by swapping it over with another and operates fine.
I've chased 3 of the wires from the relay back to the ecu and checked each for voltage (all of them show a pulsating current).
I've checked all connections and cleaned all of then to fail safe.
The battery used to start the bike has been fully charged and was showing 12.4v and recovering extremely quickly after being working hard.
The bike does turn over (very fast) and the dash board operates as normal however every so often trips on and off (when attempt to start bike excessively).
I'm suspecting ecu but I'm not exactly over eager to rush out and buy one before I can rule Everything else out!
Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I've been there and banged my head against the wall.
Yes, the pump priming is initiated by the ECU but can be affected by several other wiring issues, earthing, continuity, fuel pressure regulator, relays and diodes and fuel pump performance.
My own issues were a fucked pump failing to earth ( it worked every time I bench tested it as I provided an independant earth) and a wanked injector relay. And then I fried the ECU and Eprom because of a bad earth.
As far as the ECU and pump go, can you borrow known working replacements to substitute?, this could even be an Eprom fault.
Post up if you are still battling and I'll rack my brain cell even further and recall all the bloody nightmares I worked through

Unfortunately I don't know of anyone with a falco who would lend me the necessary parts.
Is it normal for the signal from the ecu to the fuel pump relay to be so unstable?
The bike was perfect 3 months ago when it was laid up.
Just swapped over the eprom and now this, I didn't check it prior so can't relate and annoyingly the forza chip I removed decided to loose a leg so theres no going back :/

Given that you've swapped the EPROM, being the major change since it working/not working, I would imagine this is where your woes lie. I do have a stock chip, but it's "somewhere" after the house move and I've little chance in finding it. Will ask the missus if she's seen it, you're welcome to borrow it if I can find it!Yellowperil wrote:Unfortunately I don't know of anyone with a falco who would lend me the necessary parts.

Just a thought but:
Oh, and if you swapped the chip over, can't you stick the old one back in to check whether it works OK with that one?
- 1) Did you get the chip in the right way round
2) Did you work with a bit of regard to ESD and handle the chip carefully?

How come the forza lost a leg? I have bent a few legs but never managed to break one off, be careful when handling eproms, only use plastic to ease the the chip from both ends at the same time, use a credit card if you need to persuade pins into holes.
Got a spare stock eprom if you need it
