£260 last year and they were going to take the funds out of my bank automatically today, luckily I came back off holiday yesterday and ploughed through my mail!

Still it has shot up this year and the cheapest I've got is £358 from equity red star. That's fully comp for both the Falco and Rgv with the all important breakdown cover.
These toys are getting expensive

Insurance is increasing across the board, mainly due to the insurers trying to recoup money paid out in whiplash and injury claims, mostly fraudulent, and to cover non insured driver claims.

My renewal fully comp and max no claims for a garaged bike on the Falco was £84 a year with Hastings Direct, but no breakdown cover.

Aprilias never break down...

More like they are scammg folk for what they burned in the crash. The real cost of claims is in their mishandling not the claim itself IME

Excesses are going through the roof as well, MCE tried to sell me a policy with £700 quid excess on one bike and £600 on the other and the lass got quite snotty when I laughed at her.

Ended up with Carole Nash which ended up in a mammoth bartering session about mods, commuting, excesses and all that drivel. After they'd gone away for a think they managed to get inside of what I'd offered to pay by about 70 pence.

Join the IAM. They have an insurance deal by which they match the lowest quote you can get but give you a proper policy rather than the cut down one you get off the comparison sites. My bike costs me less that £100 pa with just 3 years NCB ( I gave up bikes for more than 2 years)

Only reason I keep my IAM going is the insurance.

When I took out my insurance on the BB after a 2.5 year not riding life I was quoted £245 fully comp with no ncd, thats less that I last paid!

I pay £371 for the mille r on a multi bike policy as my main highest group bike.

Any bike weather it be the benelli, the falco or even a c90 it costs me £50.00 there after for a separate 12 months policy.

I know some of the other RS members use the same broker as me as I suggested it to them in the past?

And the fecin road tax is £85!!! When did this happen? I seem to remember it being £35ish...

With a number of insurers the age of the Falco pushed it in to the classic bike category which also helps the price of quotes

On the road tax front, the bike costs me £85 but the 170 bhp diesel car only costs a tenner. That said, the fuel economy of the car is miles better than the bike and as that is a good indicator of emissions which sets the tax rates for cars, I guess that is the reason. There is no account taken of the fact that if 10% of motorists switched to bikes congestion would disappear .... they really should be promoting bikes by all means possible.

You get some bikes like an SV650 that cost the same to tax as the Falco and yet manage 65-70mpg without being too careful. No car should ever cost less to tax. But MPs don't ride bikes so that's that.

I had a lot of trouble sorting my insurance out this year. None of the comparison sites would give me a quote just because I have non-standard road cans and a non-standard shock.
