Does anyone on here work in payroll ?

#1 Post by fatboy » Mon Aug 10, 2015 6:35 pm

If so, is this your only role or do you do other admin duties as well ?
If so,how many employees do you payroll for ?
I have genuine reasons for asking but will not bore you with the details unless you need to know....
Thanks in advance

I used to but tbh it's too long ago to remember much about it - I did the figures for tipper and skip drivers doing various different jobs, and sent them off to a firm that did the actual paying bit, so probably not what you are thinking of.

Thanks anyway BG,your response told me what I wanted to know, and that is that payroll is a specialized job detail, not something to be casually tossed to part time admin staff.

In a previous situation, our company employed a very competent and discreet individual whose sole purpose was to be responsible for the payroll of approximately 150 people. When we restructured and downsized to 25, we transferred the responsibility to a specialist payroll company to deal with it.

Thanks Dusty, a bit of nosing around told me that the wife of one of our guys does combined payroll/admin stuff, she simply compiles hours and the rest is done by a specialist company...

Ok not in payroll but it generally is done by specialised outsourced suppliers in the scenario you describe because of all the tax expenses etc etc ... IME !
They still get it wrong also IME so it can always be worth checking

In one case a company forgot for several years to allow for health care and as tax is always down to the individual the company were under no obligation to foot the huge bills people were getting
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock
