not a good week for cats

#1 Post by fatboy » Mon Jul 27, 2015 7:11 pm

Last week we found our works rat catcher dead on the road...
She had adopted us about a year ago and lived in a busy recycling transfer station, well over 150 lorry movements daily, she survived all that and got flattened by a car.
My own beautiful mad bad feline has not been seen since thursday, worrying, she's wary of people, scared of cars, my mates tell me she's way too fast to get predateted.....

I'm fairly sure that she has come to an untimely end, 5 days now and she hated the rain.
Bit too quiet at home now, especially when I get home from work, she would appear in seconds when she heard the dog announcing my arrival...
Gutted, bless her little paws

Have you checked with police, local authority (cos it's their job to remove things from roads), vets, animal shelters? Put posters on lamp-posts?

Could be someone's taken her in?

Not a good week at all. One of ours was ran over n' sent to the great scratch post in the sky the middle of last week. Dexter. Was only a kitten. :smt009

BG, she was chipped so if she'd been found in any state she would have been identifiable.
Think I'm joining Will in its 'total loss' situation.
A short but good life, I have a few pics of her curled up with my massive staffie/English cross.
I tried to tell myself to be philosophical about her mad nature.......

Unfortunately they are very often not checked for chips unless they end up at a shelter.

Was she a tortie?

Hi BG, round here Highways take anything that looks like it was a pet to be scanned at the nearest vet.
Hyper looked Oriental, but black,long ears,long face,ever so graceful,very elegant,very much missed

so

are gabro chips the best for cats or is there something better?

and to insert the chip, I assume a degree of Vaseline and force is required?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

We still have our cat, he won't go out on even on the pavement out front, he's 15 and a half and starting to look old ( I think cos he loves being outside) every now and again he vanishes for 2 or 3 weeks then he's home again.

My next pets going to be a Basset, much prefer dogs, can't take a cat for a walk lol.

Haha! I once tried to take a Basset for a walk - she didn't want to go.

Maybe you've never hears the tale of the man who went to a dog trainer to ask how to get his Basset to do what it was told? The trainer said....

"First you find out what it wants to do, then tell it to do it! "

The other thing about bassets is, never let it off the lead, being a tracker dog it'll be gone while you're thinking about it.

Our beloved feline is no more, we had to have him put down as the vet said he had a tumour in his gut. Must admit I had a lump in my throat as they gave him the injection, but at least he didn't suffer.

RIP Pastie, born 23rd April 2000 died 22nd September 2015, decent life he only ever went to the vet twice.

I always say, it's the last loving thing you can do for them. Sorry about your moggy, Peter.
