A friend has just asked me to help find a bike for her son.
He has just turned 16. The budget is around a grand, and he is not interested in what they call a ped, (all 50cc`s are peds in my book) only proper bike shape, road or trail.
Anyone know much about this stuff, what bikes etc.
gonna have a look possibly at yzr? aprilia (of coarse) and a few others, and other suggestions or bikes to avoid, cheers-phil.
what 50cc

The 'DNA' tend to get a good report, a semi bike shaped 'Ped as do the Aprilia SR50 and Speedfight from Peugeot, although theyre step thru Peds.
The Derbi Senda is quite a competent machine,

my kid bro had one and rated it highly, (then moved over to a Yamaha race rep scooter (Yamaha Virgin Mobile) purely so it matched his phone and helmet.
)
Definately give Derbi a look. they should be in the price range and decent kit for the money, well built and fast enough to be interesting for a 16yo, rather than a slug like honda vision..

This is for sale now the daughter has got an rs125

RS50 2002 lovingly restored for daughter. Had a topend rebuild (rebore etc) some 500 miles ago. I brought it about 18 months ago in a sorry state and done it up for her 16th birthday. She has spent the last 12 months loving it but is now 17 and has moved onto the RS125
